Large File of several hundred Applications and Payment Records made to the Irish Land Commission, dating from 1880s to 1930s. Mainly dealing with Co. Carlow., stating name and address of Landlord, name and address of Landlord's agent, name and address of tenant, description of property, acreage, rent, valuation etc. The Irish Land Commission was founded in 1881 to fix fair rents between landlord and tenant, its role was extended in 1885 to assist tenants in buying out their holdings from the landlord.
