"Self Portrait, of the Artist Thomas Lawrence," O.O.B., depicting a Gentleman standing by a pillar with hand on chest, against velvet draped background," label on reverse and auction stamp number 'N.J. 386', No. 12, in contemporary ornate gilt frame. (1)

N.B. should read:  Self portrait of Earl Grey (Whig Prime Minister, 1830-34, and the 3rd D of Leinster was the leader of the Irish Whigs.   

Provenance:  The FitzGerald Family , Carton House, Kildare, by direct family descent.
