Printers device on title, wd. cut heads & initials, damp stain in lower rt. hand corner throughout making some corners weak, later rebacked mottled calf, mor. label. (1)

* With 2 A.L.s. from Maria M. Pollen to Julian Gaisford, tipped-in at front. The first (9 June 1903) offering this book to him, the second (15 June) expressing her pleasure that he would like it. 'Maria Margaret La Primaudaye Pollen (10 April 1838-c.1919) known as Minnie, was a decorative Arts. Collector.' As Mrs. John Hungerford Pollen, she became known during the early 20th Century as an authority on the history of textiles, publishing "Seven Centuries of Lace," in 1908 (Wikipedia).
