A file containing (a) ALS, 2 pp, single sheet, from John O’Connell to Martin Burke at the Shelbourne Hotel, 1838, saying his father [Daniel O’Connell], feeling himself a little tired, has not risen till late this morning, and in view of the badness of the weather suggests that any meeting should be adjourned until Friday next; (b) ALS, 6 pp, on Derrynane Abbey headed paper, October 13th 1846, from Kate O’Connell (daughter of Daniel) to the Lord Chief Mason, in a difficult hand, apparently seeking advice on a personal matter; (c) two ALS from Morgan O’Connell (son of Daniel), Nov. 4 1846 to the Chief Baron and August 19 1848 to ‘My dear Pigot’; (d) an ALS from T.M. Ray, 16 Jan. 1840, seeking to arrange a meeting; (e) ALS from Thomas Steele to C. Mc Donnell Esq., undated, concerning a ballot; (f) a mounted broadside poster issued by Steele (‘O’Connell’s Head Pacificator’), extensively foxed, headed ‘To the Molly Maguires of the Counties of Leitrim, Cavan, &c., June 4 1845’, addressing them as ‘You miscreant Traitors to Ireland’.
